The Museum & Schools

School Tours

Smiling Student The Turner invites you to schedule a class visit to the museum. We are always pleased to welcome student visitors. The Turner Museum offers class tours designed to appeal to students of various ages and grade levels. They are led by a docent and last approximately one hour. The tours and docent talks promote an appreciation and understanding of art and printmaking, from traditional to contemporary. All visits are free.

Unscheduled small groups are welcome to visit The Turner during regular museum hours, however a docent may not be available. Small groups should call ahead to make a reservation, 530-898-4476.

All school groups must be accompanied by chaperones. See our Tour Procedures for more information about bringing students for gallery tours.

Classroom Visits

A brief classroom visit by a Turner docent may be scheduled by contacting the Tours Coordinator. These 30-45 minute visits and discussion are designed to familiarize students with basic printmaking concepts which will broaden their knowledge and appreciation of art and the printmaking medium. It will also enhance their gallery experience when they visit the museum.
